This project was done in collaboration with North Wales Wildlife Trust and Y Môr a Ni Cymru during my trip to Aberystwyth in May 2025.

I was lucky to attend a session with the Welsh Ocean Literacy Coalition (WOLC) to understand how they have created the UK’s first Ocean Literacy strategy called: Y Môr a Ni which means The Sea and Us.

I attended a steering group session in Aberystwyth, we discussed developing a big funding bid and how we all could action the strategy’s aims and vision for our marine environment in the future! It was from this session that I created this illustrations of the WOLC action points. The illustrations are meant to help people visualise the points and compliment the text that explains the action points in detail.

The six action points are:

1. Knowledge and Skills
2. Ocean Literacy
3. Leadership and Champions
4. Access and Experience
5. Communities and Culture
6. Network and Capacity Building

My illustrations were then used at the United Nations Ocean Conference in France to illustrate Y Môr a Ni and the Ocean Literacy work being done in Wales.
