capturing a wave of resistance

For their 35th anniversary Surfers Against Sewage ran a t-shirt competition to create an anniversary collection design.

The theme was to celebrate the work done by the organisation and the design was meant to capture this work as a ‘wave of resistance’.

I have done some campaigning with SAS before and spoken at their Paddle Out Protests in Falmouth.

I wanted to create a design that presented SAS as stewards of the ocean, its ecosystems and people. The design concept came to me and I decided to try and recreate the theme quite literally!

The design ended up being shortlisted along with 3 other artists.

SAS decided that because all the designs were so well loved by the public they would print all 3 shortlisted designs on their t-shirts.

I am honoured that my design was picked and supported by members of the public and the SAS community.

The colours were taken from their campaign artwork and the design was done using Procreate.
